This is one of twenty offset reproductions that comprise the portfolio "Grabados del Taller de Gráfica Popular." This image, created by U.S. born, African-American artist Elizabeth Catlett, who was a TGP member from 1946 on, depicts three rebozo clad indigenous women, phenotypically identified by their dark skin, prominent cheekbones, thick, full lips, long straight black hair. Two of the women listen intently to a third woman, who appears to read to them or instruct. |
