Description	Good Friday, Tome Hill, 1976. Edwin Berry, resident of Adelino, conducting and celebrating the stations of the cross pageant as worshippers ascend Tome Hill. The tradition originally started as a passion play in Tome plaza in 1948 and later evolved into a procession and ascent to Tome Hill. From the Valencia County Historical Society: "Since 1975 the Good Friday celebration on El Cerro has been held annually with many people participating and the public, of all religious faiths, invited to attend. The passion begins at 9 am and ends at noon." From Rio Abajo Heritage, VCHS, 1985, Tibo Chavez Jr., author, "The unusual religious rites and practices of the penitentes in the Southwest have long made them the subject of ridicule and accustomed them to secrecy. As early as 1626, Fray Benavidez wrote of a Holy Week procession southeast of present day Albuquerque, in which Christians flogged themselves and drew blood.
