The post card is marked number 91761. Cornelius Bennett came to Silver City in 1872 and became prosperous from his many ventures. Besides starting a general mercantile store, Bennett was Grant County's first probate judge, mayor of Silver City, a druggist, and a mining superintendent. He was on the school commission and the school board. Cornelius and his brother, J. F. Bennett, owned many buildings in downtown Silver City and operated a variety of businesses.
