Engineer James Roberts is the second man from the left in the front row. See #00461. The purpose of the strike was to obtain the same level of wages as co-workers in Nevada & Utah. Steam shovel engineer, Clarence Young, and his craneman, G. C. Hegler, were identified by the Chino Copper Company as the instigators of the strike, and were immediately fired. The strike lasted only two days. Any men who had not gone back to work the following morning were fired and blackballed in mining. The list consisted of nine steam shovel engineers and seven steam shovel cranemen.
