Description	Sepia image of the Skelly Block located on Broadway St. during the fire of 1896. At the end of the street, a large cloud of smoke can be seen. A fire hose runs down the length of the street and a large crowd of people are gathered. Among the crowd are items of furniture, a ladder lying on the ground, and a wagon in front of bank. Original photograph mounted on light green matte board with embossed curvilinear design around the outer edge. Written on the lower matte margin in pencil: "Skelly Block - P.O. - fire 1896".
Notes	L. A. Skelly owned the building at the Southwest corner of Broadway and Main Street., hence the name for this block. This building was reportedly destroyed by a fire in 1896. The buildings on the south side of Broadway cannot be seen in this shot. The Silver City Post Office was housed in the ""National Bank"" building in 1886.
