| Description | J. D. Robb Field Recording. Recorded in Leyba, NM. J.D.R. note: "Composed by Manuel Tenorio, a man from Galisteo. He was the foreman of a sheep camp for Ortiz of Galisteo. He had three men under him. They were going to Lincoln County with 4,000 sheep. On December 9 a strom caught them going near Pino, New Mexico. They lost their camp and the sheep. They themselves got lost. At 11 p.m. they built a fire, had to kill a goat, a castrado. Tenorio is dead now. This took place many years ago, about 1898 or so. Compare this with the Corrido de Wingate (#738) both of New Mexican origin, and both from the same town - Galisteo." See also index number 738. |
