R. note: "There is an interesting discussion of the Trovos or Song Contest in Dr. Campa's Spanish Folk Poetry in New Mexico, pp. 18-20, but without text or melodies. Dr. Gilbert Chase has told me that trovos are sung in South America. They are presumably of Spanish origin although in New Mexico they were, according to Dr. Campa, associated with the Chihuahua trail." For complete note, see bound volume. |
