Description | J. D. Robb Field Recording. Recorded in Tijeras, NM. J.D.R. note: " This is a recent New Mexican corrido. Lucila Ramírez was a nurse who was slain in July 1947 by Franklin Lester Lindemuth. He was tried and sentenced to life imprisonment, having been found guilty of murder in the first degree for shooting Lucila Ramírez in the back of the head on the bank of the Rio Grande river. The motive, according to the testimony, was robbery. Lindemuth roomed with Miss Ramírez' brother in Albuquerque and met her when she came to Albuquerque from Modesto, California, to see her brother, who had telephoned her that he was in trouble. Lindemuth had a previous criminal record, beginning when he was 15 years old. In prison he forged another man's name, and stabbed another inmate and for this was locked in solitary confinement. For further details see The Albuquerque Journal of March 27, 1952 and May 8, 1954." |
